I plan to change oil, etc. in my front fork in about a month. I notice there isn't a thread on the subject yet, so I thought I might solicit some pointers from the old pros, and when the time comes I'll post photos of my first go at it. Guba?

Roughly, this is it. No cmx manual any more, so this is as good as I can do.
Block up the front end, remove front wheel and fender, remove the tube caps loosen triple tree binding bolts, remove and drain the fork tubes. Refill tubes to proper depth with springs out, re-install tubes with triple tree gently snugged, install wheel, adjust wheel for straightness as needed. Tighten triple tree bolts, add springs, lower front end, work the suspension to get air bubbles out, re-install spacers if used, re-install fork tube caps.
It really isn't that bad. I put the tubes in a padded woodworking vise to add fluid and measure the depth. Being cheap, I use automatic transmission fluid (Mercon or Dexron, not the Ford type) from Walmart (~$13 gallon) rather than "fork oil"; it has a viscosity of ~7 or 7.5
Note which way the springs are installed if you have progressive springs (tighter wound on one end).

Greetings fridgitator,
Just some information to think about.
Only do one fork at a time. Saves the Fork Alignment Procedure.
When getting ready to remove a fork tube. Loosen the top pinch bolt first. Loosen and remove the fork tube cap. Then loosen the lower triple tree pinch bolt.
If the fork tube is binding when trying to remove from the triple tree. Take a flat blade screwdriver and gently tap it into the split at the top and bottom pinch bolt location.

I forgot to mention pumping the forks before adding the last bit of fluid to get it to the factory spec level.
I did this plus putting in after market springs on the CB500X today.
